LONDON GUIDE
London Attractions: Choose Your Visit
Start with what you want from the day: a free collection, a landmark worth booking, a garden or a market. Then check the date and journey.

One good visit is enough
Choose the place you want to spend time, not just the building you recognise.
A free museum can need a reservation; a paid attraction can have closed dates; a palace exterior is not an inside ticket. The comparison below keeps those distinctions visible.
Start with one anchor and leave space for food, travel and an optional second stop.

Museums and collections

Natural History Museum
Permanent galleries are free; paid exhibitions and events are separate.

V&A South Kensington
Permanent collection entry is free; temporary exhibitions can be ticketed.
Normally daily 10:00–17:45; Friday until 22:00, though some galleries close at 17:45. Clearing begins 30 minutes before closing. Fashion Gallery is closed for redevelopment. On 29–30 October 2026 only the named exhibition, café and some ground-floor galleries are open; the rest is closed due to industrial action.
Tate Modern
Collection entry is free; exhibitions have their own booking conditions.
Sunday–Thursday 10:00–18:00; Friday–Saturday 10:00–21:00. Check date-specific notices before travelling.
National Gallery
General collection admission is free; exhibitions and special events can differ.
Daily 10:00–18:00; Friday until 21:00. The current visitor page lists closure on 24–26 December and 1 January.
Royal Observatory Greenwich
The checked page advertises adult £24 and child £12; members free. A price does not override the closure.
Normally 10:00–17:00, last entry 16:00, before the whole-site closure from 2 November 2026. Do not plan November or December admission. Check smaller gallery closures too.
Landmarks, gardens and markets
Tower of London
Paid admission. Choose the actual visitor categories and date on Historic Royal Palaces; separate packages can have different inclusions.
Use the official date selector. Its checked schedule shows 23–24 October 09:00–17:30 and 25 October 09:00–16:30; these are not year-round hours.
London Eye
Paid, with date and ticket-type dependent prices. Standard, Fast Track and combination products are different offers.
Opening varies by date. The checked 23 October display is 10:00–20:30; select your date rather than applying that time to every visit.
St Paul’s Cathedral
The checked visitor page lists adult sightseeing £27 and child £10.50, with concessions and family conditions. Attending worship is free and is not a sightseeing ticket.
Sightseeing Monday–Saturday, usually from 08:30, last entry 16:00 and finish 16:30. Check the calendar for changes. The limited Dome Sunday programme ends 25 October 2026; it is not general Sunday sightseeing.
Westminster Abbey
Sightseeing is ticketed. Worship and sightseeing are different visits; check ticket inclusions and visitor categories.
The visitor page lists 09:30–16:30, last entry 15:30; Saturday 09:00–16:00, last entry 15:00. Sunday is for services. Use the date calendar for exceptions.
Buckingham Palace
The current East Wing Exclusive Guided Tour advertises £100 per person. This is not the standard summer State Rooms ticket price.
From October to May, selected guided-tour dates only; starts are selected between 10:00 and 15:30. Summer 2027 dates are due to be announced in November, not confirmed here.
Kew Gardens
Paid daytime entry with ticket-category conditions. Christmas at Kew is a separate paid timed-entry event.
25 October–11 November: 10:00–16:00, last entry 15:00. 12 November–3 January: 10:00–15:15, last entry 14:30. Daytime closure 24–25 December. Glasshouses and cafés have separate hours.
Borough Market
Public market access is free; food, drinks, shopping and paid tours cost extra.
Monday closed; Tuesday–Friday 10:00–17:00; Saturday 09:00–17:00; Sunday 10:00–16:00. Festive and bank-holiday hours differ; individual businesses can vary.
Camden Market
Food, shopping and individual experiences have separate costs. The visitor information checked does not provide a general admission tariff; confirm any particular ticketed activity directly.
The visitor page lists 10:00–19:00, while the FAQ says most traders open 10:00–18:00. Confirm the particular trader rather than assuming one closing time. The FAQ says Christmas Day is closed; restaurants and food halls have separate hours.

Book the right thing
Read the exact product and date before paying.
Daytime gardens and an evening trail may be separate, while a church service is not sightseeing admission. If you need access support, arrange the relevant entrance or session before adding another booking.
Our area guides help you keep the rest of the day practical instead of crossing London between every stop.
Questions, answered
Are all 15 attractions open every day?
No. Read each guide’s date-specific restrictions. The Royal Observatory closes from 2 November 2026, and Buckingham Palace has selected tours rather than ordinary daily autumn entry.
Does free mean no booking?
Not always. Some free museums require or recommend a timed entry ticket; temporary exhibitions and paid activities have their own rules.
Are listed prices live quotes?
No. Programme and visitor information was checked on the recorded date. Your selected date, visitor categories and final booking total control the actual purchase.
