The earlier notice in this guide concerned a charity gala closure on 9 October 2026.
That date has passed; it is not a reason to rule out a later October visit. The museum’s visitor page checked on 18 October lists its normal opening hours and the 24–26 December closure.

Dawnosaurs: check the next advertised relaxed morning
The previously recorded 10 October morning has passed.
On 18 October, the official Dawnosaurs page advertises Saturday 5 December, 08:00–10:00, for neurodivergent children aged 5–15 and their families, with siblings welcome. It is free, but booking is essential, and the listed entrance is the East Entrance on Exhibition Road.
The same page’s ticket selector currently shows no available dates or times. An advertised programme is therefore not proof that a place can be booked: check the official page before making travel plans.
Build a two-part route
Pair one family favourite—such as dinosaurs or mammals—with a quieter theme such as minerals, oceans, evolution or the museum’s scientific work.
This keeps the visit coherent and reduces exhausted backtracking.

The museum has more than one visitor entrance and queues can differ.
Check the route, accessibility and current instructions instead of following the largest crowd from South Kensington station.
See the building too
