The numbers are a reading order, not quality scores. The Good Schools Guide is used only where its public profile is available; school information and ISI material fill identified gaps. Every school is within Greater London.
Highgate offers a co-educational senior-school choice in a part of London with several single-sex alternatives. Its public Good Schools Guide review describes a broad curriculum and extensive activities. For a family choosing between school environments, the breadth of daily opportunities matters as much as headline exam results.
Before you decide
Compare the external 11+ route with junior-school progression. Ask how pupils balance commitments and whether the journey remains manageable after late clubs or performances.

Boys’ education, then a mixed sixth form
UCS is a distinct option for families seeking boys’ education through the GCSE years with a co-educational sixth form. Its Hampstead location also makes the school run different from outer-north-London alternatives. Compare the actual sixth-form subject combinations and transition support as well as the entry assessment.

Check the relevant 11+, occasional-place or sixth-form route. The sixth form’s mixed intake does not mean that all younger year groups are co-educational.

South Hampstead gives families a girls’ senior option within the GDST network. Its public profile identifies the 11–18 stage separately from the junior school. Shortlist it when comparing an urban day-school routine with the different campus settings at Highgate or Mill Hill.

Channing adds a Highgate-based girls’ senior school to the north London comparison. The school describes its Unitarian tradition as an emphasis on curiosity and respect. Day and boarding from thirteen
Mill Hill is the contrasting choice here: a co-educational senior school starting at thirteen, with day and boarding options. It deserves consideration for families who want a different rhythm from an inner-London day school, provided the entry age and boarding expectations suit the child.

Do not confuse Mill Hill’s 13+ senior entry with the separate Belmont prep-school route. Compare day, weekly and other boarding arrangements directly with admissions, including the full cost.

Request the fee schedule for the intended year, including any VAT, meals, trips, transport and compulsory extras.
