Make one outing work well

Decide whether you want a flexible street walk or a booked light trail.

They feel different, cost differently and need different amounts of planning. Put the most important booking into your day first, then choose one nearby stop rather than crossing London repeatedly.

Our suggestions about when to arrive are editorial planning advice, not measured crowd predictions. A published season can contain closed dates or separate sessions; the booking calendar and any current organiser notice take precedence.

Dates and times
Switch-on event 4 November 2026. The checked page does not give the exact switch-on instant or a season end.

Covent Garden

Dates and times
12 November 2026 in the announcement body. Exact switch-on time and season end remain unconfirmed on that page.

What is actually confirmed?

Carnaby advertises 4 November. Regent Street advertises a 5 November street event, not an exact switch-on instant. Covent Garden gives 12 November. These are different programmes; use the existing guide for each official source.

Choose the right kind of day

Choose one neighbourhood for an evening walk. A free street display and a ticketed garden trail are different outings.

Before you set out

Save the venue’s own arrival instructions and check the return journey, not just the outward route.

For a group, compare the total for adults, children and any extras before paying. Ask the venue about a particular access requirement rather than relying on the nearest station alone.

If the date, price or time you need is not confirmed below, use the official link and wait for that confirmation instead of building a plan around a guess.
