Choose Oxford or Cambridge
Most undergraduate applicants cannot apply to both Oxford and Cambridge in the same admissions cycle. Compare the actual course: subject combinations, compulsory papers, assessment style, teaching structure and qualification requirements can differ even when the degree name looks similar.
Meet the early deadline
For 2027 entry, the completed UCAS application must reach UCAS by 18:00 UK time on 15 October 2026. Your school or referee may set an earlier internal deadline. Waiting for the perfect draft is not a reason to leave references and qualification checks until October.
Tests and written work
Some courses require an admissions test, registration with a test provider or submitted written work. The responsible university and course page define the current format and deadlines. Prepare for the skills being assessed rather than memorising generic interview scripts.
International qualifications
Both universities publish accepted international qualifications and course-specific subject expectations. A qualification being recognised does not mean every grade combination is competitive. If your curriculum does not provide a required subject, ask the admissions office before committing to the application.
Interviews and academic thinking
Shortlisted applicants may be interviewed to explore how they use information, respond to prompts and develop an argument. Think aloud, engage with correction and keep subject knowledge active. Expensive coaching cannot replace sustained academic reading and problem solving.
College choice and costs
A college choice affects community and some facilities, not the core degree standard. An open application is valid. International applicants should examine tuition, college charges, accommodation, travel and available funding before treating an offer as financially workable.
