The O2 → your destination
Open TfL with the real destination and arrival requirement. Do not use the doors time as the finish time.
The venue and station share the peninsula, but arena egress and station queues still need a buffer.
The organiser has not given you a dependable exit time. Recheck during the event.
If the primary service fails, your fallback should not depend on the same interchange.
Why event journeys fail
A published door time is not a finish time. Encores, extra time, security holds, crowd control and the walk from a seat to the station all change the usable departure time. Build the return plan around a conservative exit window and verify it again on the day.
The four checks
Confirm the event’s own timing, identify the correct station and entrance, check the live TfL route to the actual destination, then save a second route that does not depend on the same line. A screenshot of an old timetable is not a live service check.
Accessible return journeys
The nearest station is not always the best step-free station. Check lifts, interchange routes and the gap between platform and train. If a lift is essential, keep an alternative station or accessible surface route ready before entering the venue.
After the final moment
Move away from the venue only when it is safe to do so, keep the group together and load tickets or payment before joining the station queue. If the published finish is unknown, do not promise yourself a connection with no buffer.
