GETTING AROUND
London Night Transport: Plan Your Journey
Sort out the journey home while your phone is charged, not when the venue is closing.

Night Tube is not every line, every night
TfL lists Friday and Saturday Night Tube services on the Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines.
Coverage varies by branch: use the official night map for your stations. The Windrush line also has a night service; it is London Overground, not an Underground line.

Check the bus as a real alternative
A night bus can be useful when the rail connection does not serve your destination.
Use TfL’s planner for the exact stop, travel date and time, then save the stop name and direction. Do not assume a daytime route, stop or frequency continues unchanged through the night.
The payment day does not end at midnight
Night Tube fares are off-peak under TfL’s published rules.
The fare day and relevant Day Travelcard validity continue until 04:29. Use the same payment card or device; a midnight phone-to-card switch can split the journey record.
Special dates need a separate check
An ordinary Friday or Saturday pattern is not a New Year’s Eve or Christmas timetable.
Read the dated operator notices before booking an evening out. Leave enough time for the walk from the venue and keep a usable fallback rather than relying on the fastest rail time alone.
Give the journey room to work
Use the address you are actually going to and allow for the parts that a headline journey time leaves out: walking to the platform, waiting, an interchange and the final street.
If you are returning for a flight, work backwards from the airline’s arrival and check-in requirements. A fastest rail leg is not a safe total transfer allowance.
Check once more before leaving
Read the operator’s dated service notice and save a route you could use if the first plan changes.
Check access arrangements and ticket conditions for your own group rather than assuming a rule for one adult also covers children, discounts or every connecting train. The official links below are the next step, not a claim of live seat availability.

Use the London transport hub, Oyster vs contactless and the airport overview to compare the complete journey, then check the exact operator.
