LEGO in London or LEGOLAND Windsor? Choose the right family day
A central London toy-store stop and an out-of-town theme park are very different plans. Here is how to choose without booking the wrong experience.
For a short stop: Leicester Square
LEGO’s Leicester Square store is at 3 Swiss Court, W1D 6AP.
The store lists building-related features such as Build a Minifigure and a demonstration table. It is a retail destination, not an indoor theme park; do not promise a workshop or a free take-home activity without a current event listing.
The current feature list also includes a Pick & Build wall and Minifigure Factory. Decide whether this is a browse, a specific purchase or a named event before joining a queue.
With children, agree a spending limit and what happens if the desired set or activity is unavailable. A memorable display can be the whole stop; a successful visit does not require an unplanned large purchase.

A London store stop or a Windsor park day?
Choose the experience before comparing tickets. A retail store, a limited make-and-take activity and an out-of-town ride park need different amounts of time, money and contingency.

For a full day: Windsor
LEGOLAND Windsor requires a separate day-trip plan.
Check the official opening calendar for your exact date and the ride-availability page before buying travel. A park ticket does not remove height restrictions or guarantee that every attraction operates, and the journey needs to be included in the family budget.
Work backwards from the ride interests and restrictions that matter to your family, then check the same date in the opening calendar. Include time for reaching the park from your actual starting point and for getting home with tired children.
Central-London shopping and a Windsor ride day should not be treated as interchangeable rainy-day fallbacks once tickets and transport are committed.
Avoid seasonal assumptions
The operator describes the splash areas as seasonal, generally from May half term to early September, subject to weather.
The current ride-availability page states that Drench Towers and Splash Safari are closed from 6 September 2026, so do not expect an October splash visit. Pack and plan using the date-specific operator information, particularly if water play is the main reason for the trip.
A general description of the park’s summer offering should not overrule the dated availability notice. If water play was the deciding attraction, change the expectation before departure rather than relying on a costume in the bag to rescue the plan.
Apply the same discipline to other rides: a park being open is not confirmation that every attraction is operating.
Choose by energy and expectations
For a mixed sightseeing day, a bounded store visit is easier to combine with central London plans.
For a ride-focused day, avoid scheduling another major attraction on your return. Agree a shopping budget in advance and save tickets, transport details and the return route where every accompanying adult can find them.
Separate the non-negotiable from the optional: one particular ride, a store display, time to build or a souvenir. If those priorities differ between siblings, make the compromise before choosing the destination.
For either plan, save a simple return option and a meeting point; neither a busy store nor a ride park is a good place to discover that the adults expected different days.
The October store build is limited, not reserved
The Leicester Square page links a Ghost Street make-and-take for 24 October, 10:00–12:00, and 25 October, 12:00–14:00.
The official conditions say first come, first served while stocks last, one build per person; the activity is intended for ages six and over and the model cannot be purchased. Treat these as advertised activity windows, not reserved places or guaranteed free souvenirs.
Have a normal store-browse plan that still works if the build has finished or supplies have run out.
Windsor’s Halloween offer is a park product
Brick or Treat lists 10–11 October and 17 October–1 November 2026.
That is a separate Windsor programme, not the same event as the London store’s make-and-take or Halloween hunt. Check the park’s date-specific calendar and ride-availability notice alongside the event page.
Headline starting prices may describe different dates or packages, so compare the final product for the whole group rather than using a promotional figure as a universal family-day cost.
Keep a wet-weather fallback in the same kind of day
For a central-London outing, decide how long the family wants to browse and what nearby indoor stop would genuinely suit them afterwards.
For Windsor, check the attraction notices and forecast before departure and decide whether the ride-led day still works for your group. Do not describe the park as an indoor substitute for the store simply because both use the same brand.
A change of destination is also a change of journey, budget and expectations.
