Start with the Space gallery
The museum’s current programme includes its free Space gallery, exploring human space travel through objects and stories. Use it as the foundation of the visit instead of assuming that a separately ticketed experience is necessary for a worthwhile family day.

Book the show separately
The Space Show is listed on Saturdays and Sundays until 1 November 2026, with selected midweek school-holiday dates. Tickets are free, but reserve the session through the operator and confirm the time. A museum entry booking alone does not establish a place at a show.

A simple learning challenge
Invite each child to find one object linked to a journey, one to keeping people alive and one that raises a question. Compare choices afterwards. This gives the visit a shape without turning it into a worksheet or expecting younger children to read every label.

Keep optional extras optional
The wider programme includes tours and paid experiences with different calendars. Start with one confirmed booking, include a food break and leave space for discovery. If your preferred show is full, keep the gallery plan and choose another day for the show instead of inventing a tight cross-city replacement.
