Bank of England Museum opens free on Saturday 14 November for the Lord Mayor’s Show

A rare Saturday opening gives families another reason to visit the City on 14 November. The Bank of England Museum will be free to enter, with family activities alongside the Lord Mayor’s Show.

One Saturday, not a new weekly opening

The museum’s programme lists 14 November, 11am to 4pm, with the last entry at 3.30pm.

It is a special opening for the Lord Mayor’s Show, not a change to every Saturday’s visiting hours. Entry and the advertised activities are free, with no booking required.

What families can do inside

The Bank lists face painting, brass rubbing, worksheets and colouring alongside the museum collections.

Visitors can also try lifting a genuine gold bar and explore the history of money and the Bank. Choose the activity your children most want to try, then leave the rest flexible rather than treating the programme as a timed circuit.

Put the museum and the procession on separate clocks

The Lord Mayor’s procession leaves Mansion House at 11am; the return leg begins at Temple at 1.10pm.

Those are parade times, not museum admission slots. Decide whether watching the procession or spending time inside is the priority.

A museum visit afterwards still needs to fit before the 3.30pm last entry.

Use the museum’s visitor entrance

The museum gives Bartholomew Lane, London EC2R 8AH, as its address.

Share that entrance rather than only the name of the Bank. Nearby streets can be busy on Show day, so check the organiser’s current travel and access advice before setting out.

Keep food, transport and any optional purchases separate from the free admission plan.
