VISAS & IMMIGRATION
UK Global Talent visa: a clear starting guide
Global Talent is designed for people who can demonstrate leadership or leadership potential in eligible fields.

Understand the route
Many applicants seek endorsement first and then submit the visa application.
Certain eligible prizes may provide another route.

Evidence must show impact
Documents should demonstrate personal contribution, independent recognition and measurable influence—not simply list activity.
Build a coherent case
The CV, recommendation letters, evidence and personal statement should support the same professional story without exaggeration.
Check the current rules
Fees, endorsing arrangements and criteria can change.
Always verify the latest official position before applying.
Choose the field before choosing evidence
Start with the current eligibility framework for the relevant field and route.
A strong achievement that does not address the published criteria may add little. Build a table linking every criterion to independent evidence, personal contribution and measurable impact.
This reveals gaps early and prevents a portfolio from becoming a collection of impressive but disconnected documents.
Strengthen independent recognition
Recommendation letters should explain how the writer knows the work, why they are qualified to judge it and what changed because of the applicant’s contribution.
Public evidence, customers, adoption, revenue, research, awards or industry influence may support the same claim where relevant. Avoid letters that repeat the CV, rely on status alone or make claims the attached evidence cannot verify.
Prepare for refusal risk
Read current guidance and previous feedback critically.
Check document limits, dates, authorship, translations and whether evidence proves the applicant’s own role. Ask an informed reviewer to challenge the weakest criterion, not merely polish the writing.
Endorsement is an evidence assessment, so clarity cannot compensate for a missing requirement and volume cannot compensate for poor relevance.
