The London shortlist
Start with Imperial College London, UCL, King’s College London, LSE, Queen Mary University of London, City St George’s University of London, SOAS University of London, Goldsmiths University of London, Brunel University London and Royal Holloway, University of London. This is a comparison shortlist, not one universal ranking.
Choose by academic profile
Imperial is concentrated in STEM, medicine and business; LSE in social sciences; SOAS in Asia, Africa and the Middle East; Goldsmiths in creative and social disciplines. UCL, King’s, Queen Mary and others offer broader portfolios, but course-level strength still matters more than the institution’s overall label.
Understand the geography
A London university is not automatically central. Brunel is in Uxbridge; Royal Holloway is in Egham outside Greater London; other institutions have multiple campuses and clinical sites. Map teaching locations, accommodation and placements before estimating a commute.
Price the complete year
International tuition, housing, travel, visa and healthcare costs must be modelled together. London access may help with events, placements and part-time opportunities, but those benefits do not erase a weak budget.

Use the university’s country page and individual course listing for accepted qualifications, required subjects, English tests, portfolio or admissions-test rules. Requirements can differ sharply inside the same institution.
Visit with questions
At an open day, inspect libraries, teaching rooms, student support and the journey from realistic housing areas. Ask how many contact hours, placements and optional modules the course actually delivers.
