Yuko Mohri: In Concert — free art at the Barbican
The Barbican’s Curve becomes an instrument of sorts in Yuko Mohri’s free installation. Sound, light and moving objects respond to the space from 1 October, offering a useful indoor culture stop that does not need a full evening.

What makes this visit different
Yuko Mohri works with found things, mechanical movement, electricity and the behaviour of a room.
Her new site-responsive commission for The Curve brings sound, light and kinetic sculpture together with objects from the Barbican. The appeal is in watching small systems react and change; it is an installation, not a seated concert despite its title.

Opening update: the works to look for
The Barbican confirmed the exhibition opening on 1 October.
Decomposition uses salvaged streetlamps and fruit sensors: changes in moisture help drive light and sound. Moré Moré (Leaky) draws on improvised leak repairs in Tokyo subway stations, using everyday containers and musical instruments in water-driven chains of movement.
These changing systems reward looking and listening rather than treating the gallery as a backdrop for one photograph.
Past performance: 8 October
Two Pianos, Four Hands and Four Feet was scheduled in Car Park 5 on 8 October 2026.
That one-night performance with Yuko Mohri and Christian Marclay is now past; it is not part of a current free exhibition visit. The Curve installation continues until 24 January 2027.
A simple plan
Arrive through the Silk Street entrance and follow signs to The Curve on Level G, at the bottom of the entrance ramp opposite the Barbican Shop.
Admission is free and the Barbican states Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–19:00, with Mondays closed. An unhurried half-hour is an editorial suggestion, not an official session length.
Recheck exceptional closures before setting out.
Who it suits and access
This is a flexible choice for curious art visitors, a short indoor stop or an outing combined with another current Barbican exhibition.
The venue welcomes assistance dogs and publishes access information for the space. The Barbican notes an enhanced bag-size restriction of 32 × 18 × 22 cm; confirm the latest policy and your step-free route on the venue site.
If you need a quieter alternative, consider a separate gallery visit rather than assuming a sound-based installation will be silent.
Holiday opening changes
The free Curve exhibition is closed on 24–26 December.
The Barbican lists New Year’s Day hours of 12:00–20:00, replacing the usual Tuesday–Sunday 11:00–19:00 pattern on that date. Mondays remain closed.
Check these exceptional hours before combining the installation with another booking.
