Who Are We? at the Southbank Centre: modern circus in clay and colour
Choose this UK-premiere run for a large ensemble mixing contemporary circus, dance, live music, clowning and ceramics—not for a conventional story with a tidy plot.

What kind of show is it?
Who Are We?
is Baro d’evel’s Qui Som?, an ensemble work built from circus, acting, dance, live music, acrobatics, clowning and ceramics. Rather than following a conventional beginning-to-end plot, it uses dreamlike stage images and physical encounters to ask how people imagine and build a shared world.
The clay and colour are part of the performance language, not decoration around a standard circus bill.

The company and performers
Camille Decourtye and Blaï Mateu Trias are the authors and company directors.
Southbank Centre names Sabianka Bencsik, Lucia Bocanegra, Martina Calvo, Julien Cassier, Decourtye, Cecilia Figueiredo, Mahamat Fofana, Greta García, Marti Soler and Guillermo Weickert in the ensemble, with Mateu Trias or Dimitri Jourde. Maria Muñoz and Pep Ramis of Mal Pelo collaborated on direction.
The London dates are presented with MimeLondon and billed as the company’s UK premiere.
Choose the performance before booking
Wednesday and Thursday begin at 19:30; Friday begins earlier at 18:30.
The venue gives an approximate two-hour runtime but no guaranteed curtain-down time, so do not build a tight onward reservation around an assumed finish. Compare the final seat price and availability on the official page: the published £26 figure is a starting price, not a promise that every performance still has that option.
Who it suits—and who should pause
Book it for someone open to visual, physical and multidisciplinary performance, especially if contemporary circus or dance interests them.
The 8+ guidance does not mean every child will enjoy the material. Read the loud-music, flashing-light, strong-language and partial-nudity notice with your group before paying.
Under-12s must be accompanied by an adult on the Southbank Centre site.
Arrive at Queen Elizabeth Hall
Use Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London SE1 8XX and follow signs for Queen Elizabeth Hall rather than Royal Festival Hall.
Waterloo is the nearest rail and Underground approach; Embankment is across Hungerford Bridge. The hall opens 90 minutes before events and otherwise remains closed, so use the wider Southbank Centre facilities if you arrive much earlier.
Save the hall name with the ticket.
Access and seating decisions
Southbank Centre says its performance spaces and public facilities are accessible and provides wheelchair booking, access maps and an Access Scheme.
Those general provisions do not replace a seat-specific check. Contact the venue before purchase for the step-free route, wheelchair space, companion arrangement or sensory information you need, particularly given the flashing-light and loud-music warning.
Keep the South Bank plan simple
Make the show the fixed part of the day.
A riverside walk or Quentin Blake’s free site-wide installation can be a flexible nearby stop, subject to opening and weather. Eat close to Waterloo or the Southbank Centre so the meal does not add a cross-city transfer.
If the performance style is not right for your group, compare the current theatre guide or another dated event instead of booking only because the location is convenient.
