UCAS 2027: put 13 January in the diary, then work backwards
For most undergraduate courses, the 2027-entry equal-consideration deadline is 13 January at 18:00 UK time. That is not the deadline for courses that had an October closing date.

Check the actual course
UCAS separates the January deadline from courses subject to the 15 October deadline.
Confirm the chosen course’s requirements rather than applying one date to every application route.

Work backwards from a submitted application
Leave time for references, course choices and any school or college process.
An internal deadline can come earlier than the national one. A saved draft does not establish that the application has been sent.
Keep the promise in proportion
Equal consideration is a deadline rule, not an assurance of an offer.
This checklist does not assess a student’s chances or replace the university’s own entry information. Keep the course page and submission confirmation with the application record.
A useful job for this week
Open each course page and keep a short record: course, deadline, required supporting work and the person handling your reference.
Ask your school or college for its internal submission date. UCAS explains that this can be earlier so staff have time to check the application and attach the reference.
Put both dates in your calendar; do not let the national date hide the earlier practical one.
Make the final check a separate task
Reserve a calm session for reviewing course codes, contact details and qualifications rather than rushing through the check while submitting.
Keep the actual submission confirmation. If something is unclear, ask the institution or your adviser rather than relying on a social-media answer about a different course.
If you are comparing London offers
Look beyond a university name.
Map where teaching happens and compare the journey from accommodation you could realistically afford. A placement elsewhere can change that budget.
Use our student and transport guides for practical planning, then return to the university for formal course or admissions questions.
