Open House has three useful guided walks through the City on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September. They share a booking pattern but tell very different London stories: changing architecture, the Great Fire and the Barbican’s elevated landscape.

The three routes compared
Historic & Modern Buildings begins around Guildhall Yard and contrasts the medieval street pattern with modern towers. The Great Fire route follows the physical story of destruction and rebuilding. The Barbican route focuses on post-war planning, elevated walkways and City gardens. Choose the question you most want the walk to answer.
Exact departure pattern
On both Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, Great Fire walks are listed at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00. Barbican walks are at 10:15, 11:15, 12:15, 13:15 and 14:15. Historic and Modern Buildings walks are at 10:45, 11:45, 12:45, 13:45 and 14:45.
Booking and capacity
All three official listings require an Open House account and booking. A free event can still reach capacity, and one booking should not be treated as access to another route. Keep the confirmation and use the meeting-point instructions in the exact listing.
Build a compact City day
Allow up to 90 minutes for the walk and at least 20 minutes afterwards before another timed activity. Add one flexible nearby stop rather than another guided route: Guildhall Art Gallery, the Barbican public spaces or a riverside walk can absorb timing changes.
Access and comfort
The City includes uneven historic surfaces, steps, busy crossings and elevated routes. Read the access information on the selected listing, contact the organiser if a detail is decisive and wear footwear suited to a continuous outdoor walk.
