London travel 17–18 October: Heathrow and weekend route checks

Heathrow and west London journeys need particular attention this weekend. Choose the date and return time before relying on a familiar Tube route.

Heathrow and west London: check both directions

TfL lists no Piccadilly service between Hammersmith and Heathrow/Uxbridge on 17–18 October, including Friday and Saturday Night Tube.

District changes cover Turnham Green–Ealing Broadway. If an airport arrival or departure is the fixed part of your day, plan that journey first.

Do not infer that another rail service has its normal timetable, or treat a daytime route as proof of the late-night return.

Sunday rail and station changes

On 18 October, the DLR is closed between Tower Gateway and Shadwell.

Elizabeth line trains do not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell or West Ealing; service is reduced between Paddington and Maidenhead and at Heathrow Terminal 4. Check your precise station, not just the line colour.

A train passing through an area does not mean it serves the station you intended to use.

Outer-London plans and late returns

Sunday Mildmay changes affect Gospel Oak–Stratford until 11:15 and Camden Road–Stratford after 22:15.

The Suffragette change covers Barking–Barking Riverside. Weaver changes affect Edmonton Green–Cheshunt across the weekend; London Trams are affected between Sandilands and New Addington.

These are selected entries from the full official notice, so open it for other journeys rather than assuming an unmentioned line is unaffected.

A Barbican or museum booking

Make the venue on your ticket the destination in the planner.

For Tom at the Farm, that is Barbican Theatre on Silk Street, not a similarly named cinema entrance. For a South Kensington museum booking, compare the actual outward route and leave the exhibition time separate from the arrival at a station.

Keep any meal in the same area so a late connection does not disrupt several bookings at once.

For a weekend with children

Choose one main stop and make the outdoor addition optional.

The Family hub offers free galleries and indoor play alternatives; our Greenwich guide distinguishes the historic museum area from the arena peninsula. A transport notice alone cannot tell you which activity fits your children or how long your group needs for the final walk.

Keep the booking confirmation and the fallback destination available to every accompanying adult.

Access and backup choices

Use the accessibility preferences in TfL’s planner, then recheck lift and station status before leaving.

A replacement route can add a different entrance, interchange or final walk. Ask the venue about the last part of the journey and the seating arrangement separately.

No replacement-bus timetable, live lift availability, fastest alternative or exact extra travel time is promised by this summary.

Recheck at the time you will travel

This guide summarises a planned-works PDF checked on 13 October, rather than a live disruption feed.

Reopen TfL’s notice while making bookings, check the planner for each dated leg, and check status shortly before departure. For a late show, use the expected return window and retain a flexible option.
