FAMILY LONDON
Ghosts & Ghouls at Shakespeare’s Globe: family tour guide
A one-hour, open-air Globe tour built around Shakespearean ghosts, old medical beliefs and Bankside folklore. It is described for all ages, but the frightening subject matter makes the individual child—not the label—the important booking decision.

What happens on the tour
A Globe guide uses the theatre and its stories to explore supernatural moments in Shakespeare, period beliefs and darker Bankside folklore.
The route includes ghosts and witches from the plays, unsettling medical history and old ideas about protection from evil. Exhibition entry is included.
This is a guided storytelling visit, not a staged play or a scare attraction, and the organiser does not promise actors or special effects.

Is it right for your child?
The Globe describes the English-language tour as suitable for all ages but warns that some content may scare younger audiences.
Think about how the child responds to ghosts, death and grisly historical detail, not only their age. Tell them what kind of stories to expect and give them permission to step away from a section.
Under-16s must attend with an adult. For a very sensitive child, use the standard Globe tour instead.
Price, dates and ticket status
The checked price is £23 for adults and £18 for under-16s, with the stated £3 per-order fee included in the listed adult price.
The run begins 17 October 2026 and continues on selected dates to 30 January 2027. Some October and later sessions were already marked limited or sold out when checked, so the date selector—not this summary—controls availability and time.
Do not build a journey around a session until the booking is complete.
Dress for an open-air hour
The Globe is an open-air theatre and says tours continue in all conditions.
Check the hour-by-hour forecast, use a waterproof layer rather than an umbrella that may block others, and add warmth for a child standing still. The venue does not store luggage.
Keep the bag small, leave time for entry checks and avoid promising a dry experience simply because much of the route is inside the theatre structure.
Access and the route through the building
A tour may use several theatre levels reached by four or eight flights of external stairs.
The Globe says lift access to other floors can be offered subject to operations, with limited level access to some gallery seating. Contact the venue before booking when a particular route, resting point or lift is essential.
This is better than assuming every tour follows the same path on every performance day.
Getting to Bankside and planning the rest
The Globe is at 21 New Globe Walk, London SE1 9DT.
Blackfriars, London Bridge, Southwark and Mansion House can each work from different directions; check the live TfL journey and the river crossing involved. Keep the companion plan close: a short Bankside walk or meal is enough after an hour of concentrated storytelling.
For poor weather, choose one genuinely indoor backup rather than adding another outdoor route.
Recheck before the family leaves home
Details were checked on 4 October 2026.
Confirm the selected time, availability and any operational access arrangements on the official page. Review the weather and TfL status, and tell children in advance that the stories include frightening ideas.
The tour’s final listed date is 30 January 2027; after that, this page will remain as an archive and point readers toward current family events.
