Cleveland Watkiss joins Guildhall’s improvisers

Jamaican dub, free improvisation and live re-sampling meet at Milton Court on 20 October. This is a Guildhall concert, not a second show in Barbican Hall.

The ensemble is part of the story

Watkiss performs with Guildhall’s Improvisers’ Ensemble in the second concert of his longer residency.

The organisers describe Jamaican dub and free improvisation, with live re-sampling, visuals and an element of audience participation. Music developed through workshops is central to the format; this is not advertised as a fixed album played from beginning to end.

Choose by how you like to listen

Our suggestion is to choose this for the possibility of sounds being answered, changed and reused in the room.

If your group wants a familiar sequence of songs with a predictable arrangement, compare another programme first. You can arrive curious without trying to decode every technique: listen for a sound returning in a new setting, or for one performer changing another’s direction.

One ticket versus one transaction

The listing gives £15 admission and a £4 fee per online or telephone transaction, not per ticket.

One standard admission bought alone by that route therefore starts at £19; two standard admissions in the same transaction start at £34. Those are calculations from the published tariff, not quotations for available seats.

Eligible concessions are listed at £8. Confirm your selected category before paying.

Milton Court is not Barbican Hall

Use Milton Court Concert Hall, Silk Street, EC2Y 9BH in your journey notes.

The venue describes it as approximately five minutes on foot from the Barbican’s Silk Street entrance. That is a local orientation estimate, not a step-free walking guarantee.

Ask Guildhall about the appropriate access approach rather than assuming another auditorium’s seating or entrance arrangements apply.

Leave the late part of the evening open

The official event page does not give a finish time.

We have not converted the 19:30 start into an invented duration. Keep any late meal or return connection flexible until the venue confirms the programme.

Before leaving, check both the current booking route and your journey; an event listing establishes the plan, not admission to a seat that has not been booked.
