01

Begin with the official ecosystem

The British Fashion Council and London Fashion Week provide current routes to participating designers and industry programmes. Use them to discover names, then visit each brand’s own channel for collections, stockists and appointments.

02

Read London by district

Mayfair and Bond Street centre global luxury; Soho and Covent Garden mix flagships and design; Shoreditch and east London support independent culture; Chelsea and Notting Hill offer a more neighbourhood-led edit.

03

Look beyond famous labels

Graduate shows, multi-brand boutiques, markets and designer studios can reveal newer work. Check production, materials, repair and return information instead of treating “British” or “independent” as automatic proof of quality.

04

Buy for a real wardrobe

Start with fit, use and care. Ask how a piece is made, altered, cleaned and repaired. A strong purchase should work beyond fashion week and social media.

05

Respect invitations and access

Runway shows and presentations may be trade or invitation-only. Use official public programmes and legitimate ticket routes; paying an unknown reseller does not create valid industry access.
