Look beyond famous labels
Graduate shows, multi-brand boutiques, markets and designer studios can reveal newer work. Check production, materials, repair and return information instead of treating “British” or “independent” as automatic proof of quality.

Buy for a real wardrobe
Start with fit, use and care. Ask how a piece is made, altered, cleaned and repaired. A strong purchase should work beyond fashion week and social media.

Respect invitations and access
Runway shows and presentations may be trade or invitation-only. Use official public programmes and legitimate ticket routes; paying an unknown reseller does not create valid industry access.
