Why it matters

The large-scale map follows a smart speaker through extraction, manufacturing, human labour, data capture, use and disposal. It makes the environmental, social, political and economic systems behind everyday AI visible.

02

Dates and access

Southbank Centre lists the artwork from 11–13 September, daily from 11:00–22:00, on Riverside Terrace. It is free, unticketed and listed for all ages.

03

How to read it

Start with one path—materials, labour or data—then follow its connections. The work rewards slower reading more than a quick photograph, so allow a focused 20–30 minutes.

04

Add one nearby stop

Pollinator Pathmaker is on the same terrace and Katie Paterson’s Ideas is in the Roof Garden. Combining the three creates a compact free route through AI, ecology and deep time.
