Choose the evening, not just the venue

Same hill, different night out.

Alexandra Palace’s organiser describes a new weekend format: a full festival atmosphere on Saturday and an earlier, family-focused Sunday. Both include a fireworks and drone display.

The useful change is not merely an extra date in the diary—it is the chance to choose an evening that fits your group rather than asking everyone to fit the same late finish.

Saturday: make it the night out

Saturday 7 November has a published 8pm display start, with gates from 4pm.

Eats Everything is the outdoor headline DJ, while the German Bier Festival has its own entertainment and separate admission. Our take: this is the better starting point if the group wants music and a longer festival evening.

Do not plan to reach the entrance at 8pm; the organiser warns that the hour beforehand is busy.

Sunday: the earlier option, not a quiet guarantee

Sunday 8 November brings the display forward to 6pm, again with gates from 4pm.

The advertised programme includes Junior Jungle Kids Rave and Barrioke with Shaun Williamson. The organiser describes a smaller capacity and family focus.

That is not a promise of silence, no queues or a sensory-friendly display. Think about the people coming with you, not just the family label on the ticket.

The free-child-ticket offer has ended

This is the detail worth checking if you saved an early announcement.

The current official FAQs say the limited early-bird free-child offer has finished and list under-10 tickets at £6.50 including fees, subject to availability. Check the actual age band and date in the booking flow for every child.

We have read the published information, not completed a purchase or verified seats in a live basket.

The entry ticket is not every attraction

The general FAQs distinguish festival admission from the German Bier Festival, Ice Rink, Summit and Premium Viewing Area, which require add-ons.

A photograph of an attraction does not mean it comes with the cheapest ticket. Decide what you actually want to do first, then compare the complete basket.

Food, rides and an upgraded view should not become surprises after you have agreed the group budget.

Give the journey home some room

The festival’s guidance says there is no public parking at the venue or in surrounding streets, with local restrictions and closures.

Use the organiser’s travel information and check your actual return route nearer the day. Leave breathing space after the display: everyone heading for the exit together is part of the evening to plan around.

Warm waterproof layers and sensible footwear matter more than an ambitious schedule across the park.

Our short answer

Choose Saturday for the fuller festival-night proposition; begin with Sunday if the earlier display suits the household better.

Then check admission, add-ons and the journey as one plan. For a wider choice, our Bonfire Night London guide compares other organised outings.

This is a source-led preview, not an attendance review, a ticket-availability guarantee or a prediction of the weather. Official event notices take priority if arrangements change.
